Diploma Supplement

The Europass Diploma Supplement is an instrument of transparency developed by the Council of Europe, UNESCO and the European commission, aimed at making the qualifications issued by higher education bodies, both academic and non-academic, more comprehensible, and at the same time expressing their value. The document accompanies the qualifications and certificates issued following a study course at a university or a higher education institute.
Considering its supplementary function, the Diploma Supplement is valid only if accompanied by the original certificate and is issued, at the end of the study cycle, by the body issuing the original qualification (university office in the case of an academic learning pathway, competent office in the case of a non-academic learning pathway).
In Italy the European document may have a dual application:

• In the case of learning pathways of an academic nature
• In the case of learning pathways of a non-academic nature
